About this course
There is an increasing understanding of the role of sensory processing and the impact this can have on patients in therapy settings within mental and physical healthcare. An understanding of our patients sensory processing and sensory preferences can have appositive impact on emotional regulation as well as engagement in other therapy media. This introductory day is designed to give participants a basic understanding of sensory processing and how this can affect each sense as well as encouraging an increased awareness of the impact the environment has on peoples sensory processing. Participant will leave the session with some easy and practical tools for use with clients in AHP therapy settings.

- To provide practical intervention tools for use with patients in all AHP therapy settings
Structure of the Day
The day will combine teaching; self-practice exercises; break-out exercises.
The training will be run via Ms Teams.

The trainer
Emma Nicklin is an Occupational Therapist and the trust lead for AHP's and OT in CNWL. During her MSc in advanced Occupational Therapy her interest in the impact of sensory disorder was sparked and since then she has been trained in sensory integration through the Sensory Integration Network to level 2. She gained practitioner status in 2022 and uses this to work with individual clients across clinical specialities as well as to influence strategically to improve services for those with neurodiversity.
